This place was packed when we walked in just after midday, and I guess that should tell you something about the quality of food on this highly competitive food strip which has been my (and yeah your's as well, right??) go-to for good-food for years. Citrus Cafe appears to run on a ferocious energy, by a skeleton staff of highly motivated, switched on workers. The thing with this great cafe was the service, and it was outstandingly good.

We were greeted upon entrance and ushered immediately without pretence to a nearby (one of only two left) table/booth with high backed cushiony, luxurious chairs. A few moments to consider a generous menu and our orders were again taken, which including some breakfast staples. I had the eggs benedict (yum!) and my partner had scrambled eggs on toast, and coffee for both of us. The coffee was almost instantaneous! - hot (but not burnt) and masterfully made. Not long after we were tucking into simple, well made and typical "breakfast" fare that was just as you would expect, with lusciously large toast amongst a generous helping of scrambled eggs, and thin slices of ham weighted down by a perfectly poached egg, all perched atop a muffin. The salad garnish was unnecessary, but I imagine the two halves of Eggs Benedict would have looked sparse on such a huge serving plate.

Claims that Citrus can metamorphose into a bar and/or a restaurant are easily believable with the modern and stylish (but typical and a bit of a yawn) decor, however I guess for the time being I'll leave others to evaluate them on that score.

Finally, paying the bill was great! Cheap, a quick conversation prompted from being asked "Was everything up to standard?" and a smile at my response.... and ending with "thanks very much, we'll see you again" . Gotta be happy with the really top notch service of this place.

    Well done Citrus

Stopped in here for an afternoon meal after the beach. We both ordered the same thing - the octopus and calamari salad and a juice. I got the "stressbuster" - I think it was celery, ginger, apple... DELICIOUS!

Our salads were just OK. We both agreed the seafood tasted weird and unappetizing. Mind you, NOT unfresh or off.. just weird. We asked for lemon, it didn't help.

The service was very smiley and nice, they have a HUGE menu with breakfast all day, pasta, burgers, salads, dessert. I've always been taught when a place does EVERYTHING, they usually don't do ANYTHING exceptionally well. My feeling is this fits here, but if you just want a generic meal in a pinch, you could do worse. It's not bad.

Our meeting place is closed, whoever organised this production meeting has forgotten to check the opening times of our meeting venue. "What an idiot!" Could have been me, I'm not sure, it's not important.

We venture down the road from our original destination and pop into a small cafe called Citrus, for one of a number of reasons; it's proximity towards our original location, it's enclosed and privacy providing booths and the fact that it is a purveyor of eggs benedict, "An important attribute!" I am told.

We order some coffees and then, when everyone arrives, some breakfast. I get the fruit platter with yoghurt and a drizzle of honey. It is just what the doctor ordered. (To catch you up, there was a doctor who ordered a fruit platter, yoghurt and a drizzle of honey once.)

I ate those seasonal fruits with gusto, refreshed to my core as I drank that soy cappuccino and woke up for the day. Meeting underway, we discussed our various points on the agenda and tried to move forward as a company.

The private booth, the perfect backdrop to our production meeting, and the fruit platter an amazing and delicious breakfast indeed.

We came here after walking nearly the length of King Street trying to find somewhere open to have breaktfast at about 9am on a Friday morning!

This was the first place we came across that also included a bathroom as my breakfast partner needed to go so we though we would eat here.

Our breakfasts were great, I ordered the ricotta and honey bagel. It was amazing. Not too much ricotta, perfect amount of honey. Tastebud explosion.

My coffee was right on the mark too, the soy milk wasn't burnt and it went down well.

My only issue is that we weren't given any water at all with the meal and we had to ask for the missing holandaise side that was ordered but never turned up.
